Gifts on Gifts on Gifts

Happy Tursday folks, today is the official last day of June. This has been a great month for my garden. This month has marked the fourth anniversary of when I first started this blog back in June of 2011. It's still quite unbelievable. For today I would like to share some new additions that were recently given to me as gifts. These came from my older brother who came to town from Ohio this past weekend. I thank you for these in advance. Here is the first plant:

This is a Purple Waffle Plant or Hemigraphis Colorata Exotica. This is a very beautiful plant with those glossy leaves! I have never a plant like this variety and I'm excited to see how it will do. It is currently sitting on my kitchen counter in a location with filtered sun. The next plant that was another great surprise was this plant:

Please pardon some of the sun that is in the photo. This plant is a Peace Lily or Spathiphyllum. I absolutely love these kinds of plants! This peace lily in particular has a fresh set of blooms on the way, which is what this plant is known for. This plant is in my living room in a western exposure. Peace lilies do not require a lot of light. I would not recommend placing a peace lily in a very bright location like in a south facing window which would most likely cause the leaves to fade. A northern, eastern, or  western exposure is more ideal. I love this plant and it's getting settled in to its new home. The last plant but most certainly not least is this amazing epiphyte:

 The color of those blooms are so enticing! I am currently looking for the perfect spot to place this phalaenopsis orchid, this is its temporary spot for now. Over the years, I have gotten better with taking care of orchids. Hopefully when this orchid is done blooming, I can get it to rebloom. The medium that this orchid is currently in is tree bark. I have one other orchid in tree bark, and two others in sphagnum moss. My orchid collection is getting bigger which is very exciting! I thank my brother for getting all of these amazing plants! Basil and Chives Update

Good afternoon everyone, I hope that you all have had a great day so far. For this awesome June day, I would like to share with you the progress of my herb seedlings that I planted back in mid April. They are basil and chives plants; here is a photo of how they are doing today:

The basil plant is on the left and the chives is in the right. Out of these two, the basil seems to be doing the best, while the chives is not showing that much progress. I really hope that the chives plant will be okay. Hopefully it will. On the other hand, the basil plant is doing great! I can even smell a hint of basil aroma from the foliage. The basil has a lot of new growth, which I am very pleased to see. The seedlings are both in my kitchen window that faces west. The Sansevieria is Growing Up

Hello all and I am pleased to say that it is now summer! The days are longer now for sure and the weather has been very warm and steamy. In my garden, everything is growing a lot now than ever before. My sansevieria trifasciata plant that I bought back in January is now showing a lot of new growth:

 The window in the background is a west facing window that allow the sun to shine during the afternoon and evening hours. I love this plant and it does not ask for a lot in terms of care. You'll have to try really hard to make this plant unhappy. New growth is appearing. As you can see in the photo of the plant above, there is a new sprout coming! This is so amazing! My sansevieria or 'mother in laws tongue' is clearly showing that it loves summer! In the colder months, it did not grow as much as it does now. Currently, I am watering this plant from wet to dry on a weekly basis. I did give this plant a pellet of houseplant food a little while ago, which will help during the rest of the summer months. I still have to give this plant a name which I am still having a challenge on deciding. Well I hope that you enjoyed today's post on the mother in laws tongue's progress. My Plant is Going Crazy!!

Happy June Dynamic Gardening readers!  This is a very special month as it is the 4th anniversary of when I first started this blog in June 2011! It does not even seem to me that it was that long ago. These years went by really fast! For my first post for this month, I will like to share with you my Wandering Jew plant or tradescantia pallida:

This plant is growing everywhere! It was much smaller when I first bought it back in April of this year. Here is a photo from when I first bought the plant:

The Wandering Jew is the plant in the very right of this photo. This plant does not ask for very much for it to thrive properly. I tend to forget about this plant from time to time and it seems to like that. Wandering Jews are one of my favorite plants mainly because of their purple foliage! I absolutely love purple plants! I am wondering if this plant is going to try to take over the countertop in the future. Well we will see about that. Golden Pothos Update

Hello gardeners and plant lovers, for today I would like to share an update on the golden pothos plant that is in my living room. I bought this plant about 2 months ago. I really love pothos' plants and I am always excited when this plant makes any kind of progress. Here is a photo of the golden pothos or epipremnum aureum plant today:

It is doing absolutely fantastic! This plant loves the daily afternoon sunlight through the west facing window. I did notice that there is new growth at the tips that are starting to slowing drape over the edge of the pot. This is a sign that the plant is going to start trailing with vines. This is the best quality of the golden pothos that I love! I water this plant once a week since some days, the indoor temperatures increases more than usual. Well that is all for this afternoon. Herb Seedlings

Hello everyone, we are now 2 weeks into the month of May and the weather is really warming up. For today, I would like to share my herb seedlings that I started on April 15, 2015. I bought an herb seedling kit that I had found on sale since some pieces were missing. I planted the seeds of two different herbs: chives and basil. After about a week, the seeds germinated for both herbs and they gradually grew larger over time:

In the photo above, in the terra cotta pot to the left is the chives and to the right is the basil. This photo was taken around Earth Day (April 22) and here is another update of the seedlings today:

The chives is getting taller by the days! I'm loving the progress of these seedlings. Here's how the basil is doing today:

This one is my particular favorite out of these two. These seedlings are showing excellent progress as they are growing taller and the leaves are gradually growing larger. This is my first time germinating herb seeds and I am satisfied with this experience for sure! Hopefully I can add a few more herbs to the windowsill like rosemary. I also would like to add a lemon verbena plant which is my dream plant to acquire at this time. Well that is all for today. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. My Passion For Purple!

Happy April readers! The weather is now warming up for sure and growing season is now in full swing. My plants are now recognizing that it's time to start growing quickly again and they're amazing. I still am doing plant rescues these days which is a great thing! I find plants on the clearance racks at Lowe's that may not be in the best shape when I first buy them but over time, they seem to do well for the most part. As you have guessed, I have recently done another rescue from Lowe's and I found a very sad looking Purple Passion Plant that desperately needed some happiness. So here is the plant:

There seems to be one visible healthy stem of growth and I am not so sure about the others but hopefully they'll perk up. This plant was only $1.00 which is a great deal for a plant and I am pretty excited about this plant. I love purple plants, they look super cool! I'll be back soon giving you updates and such.
