Dracaena Update!

Hello all and happy Wednesday! The weather today has been cool and refreshing! With these cooler temperatures outdoors, indoors I am still watering all of the plants less than I did during the growing season. For today here's a plant update in store for you to see! The plant that I will be showing the update on is with the Dracaena 'Lemon Surprise' plant that I rescued from Lowes earlier this year. The plant was sadly sitting on a clearance shelf along with others and this plant really caught my attention as I have been wanting a plant of this variety for quite a while. Here's a photo of the plant from back on March 10th of this year(2015):
This was a couple of weeks after I purchased the plant. I could see past all of the flaws that were present in this plant and it was slowly improved. Here's how this plant is doing today:
There are not that many hints of brown, crispy foliage on this plant anymore which makes me very happy! I like how the leaves have a visual appeal of a swirl motion! In terms of care, it is quite simple and this plant is not very demanding for pampering. My watering schedule for this plant is once every week to every week and a half during the growing season. Currently since it is fall, I tend to water once every 2 weeks or when the soil dries out. That is a good rule of thumb with this plant, is to allow the soil to dry in between waterings. The lighting situation for this plant is in a west facing window, which it does seem to enjoy a lot. These plants would be happy in an east, west, or north window, as they do not like too much direct light like from a south facing window. As for fertilizing, I use miracle grow houseplant food that is sold at many hardware stores and garden centers. This plant would like to be fertilized once a month during the growing season, and none at all during the fall and winter months.
This is an awesome plant that looks very appealing! I am very glad to see how far this plant has come in less than a year and I am excited to see what new things will happen! I hope that you have enjoyed this update on the Dracaena 'Lemon Surprise' plant! If you have any questions or comments about this post, feel free to leave a comment below :-). Happy gardening!

Houseplant Extravaganza

Happy November!! Thank you all for visiting Dynamic Gardening today! Fall is in full motion now and I am loving what I am seeing outside lately:
I love to see the colorful leaves on the ground, it's like a work of art by nature! Indoors, all of the plants have been doing quite well. Here's some of the houseplants in the living space:
I love all of my plants! They are incredible for sure! I monitor them often and I do not water them as often as I did over the summer since the weather is definitely cooler and the days are shorter than before. In the photo above, you can see the lucky bamboo plants, the aloe vera, the mother in laws tongue, some phalaenopsis orchids, and a portion of the golden pothos plant. Here's another angle of the houseplants:
In this photo, the aloe vera is more visible and it is starting to grow more oddly than previously, the mother in laws tongue is getting taller and mature, part of one of the lucky bamboo plants is shown to the right, and my purple waffle plant in the back. I hope that you have enjoyed the mini tour of the plants. Each one of the plants are part of the family and they will grow together. Thank you for reading today, have a fantastic Thursday!
