Golden Pothos Update

Hello gardeners and plant lovers, for today I would like to share an update on the golden pothos plant that is in my living room. I bought this plant about 2 months ago. I really love pothos' plants and I am always excited when this plant makes any kind of progress. Here is a photo of the golden pothos or epipremnum aureum plant today:

It is doing absolutely fantastic! This plant loves the daily afternoon sunlight through the west facing window. I did notice that there is new growth at the tips that are starting to slowing drape over the edge of the pot. This is a sign that the plant is going to start trailing with vines. This is the best quality of the golden pothos that I love! I water this plant once a week since some days, the indoor temperatures increases more than usual. Well that is all for this afternoon. Herb Seedlings

Hello everyone, we are now 2 weeks into the month of May and the weather is really warming up. For today, I would like to share my herb seedlings that I started on April 15, 2015. I bought an herb seedling kit that I had found on sale since some pieces were missing. I planted the seeds of two different herbs: chives and basil. After about a week, the seeds germinated for both herbs and they gradually grew larger over time:

In the photo above, in the terra cotta pot to the left is the chives and to the right is the basil. This photo was taken around Earth Day (April 22) and here is another update of the seedlings today:

The chives is getting taller by the days! I'm loving the progress of these seedlings. Here's how the basil is doing today:

This one is my particular favorite out of these two. These seedlings are showing excellent progress as they are growing taller and the leaves are gradually growing larger. This is my first time germinating herb seeds and I am satisfied with this experience for sure! Hopefully I can add a few more herbs to the windowsill like rosemary. I also would like to add a lemon verbena plant which is my dream plant to acquire at this time. Well that is all for today. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. My Passion For Purple!

Happy April readers! The weather is now warming up for sure and growing season is now in full swing. My plants are now recognizing that it's time to start growing quickly again and they're amazing. I still am doing plant rescues these days which is a great thing! I find plants on the clearance racks at Lowe's that may not be in the best shape when I first buy them but over time, they seem to do well for the most part. As you have guessed, I have recently done another rescue from Lowe's and I found a very sad looking Purple Passion Plant that desperately needed some happiness. So here is the plant:

There seems to be one visible healthy stem of growth and I am not so sure about the others but hopefully they'll perk up. This plant was only $1.00 which is a great deal for a plant and I am pretty excited about this plant. I love purple plants, they look super cool! I'll be back soon giving you updates and such. Concluding the Month of March.

Hey everyone, today is the official last day of March, 2015! It is the season of spring now! The weather here in North Carolina has gotten much warmer over the course of this month. I have some updates to share with you and also a new addition.

For the first plant, it is a golden pothos (epipremnum areum) and I purchased it around March 15th. It was severely root bound so I repotted the plant immediately:

This was around 2 weeks ago when I repotted this awesome plant and here is how it's doing today:

Since then, a new leaf has grown and now I am looking forward for this to trail all over my living room. It's been years since I last had one of these and I am  glad to have a golden pothos again! It is doing well in my west/ northwest facing window too! These seem to adapt to many different lighting conditions ranging from very low light to high light. I water my plant about twice a week, allowing it to dry out a little bit.

Another update for today is my mother in laws tongue plant (sansevieria trifasciata) which is definitely showing progress!

This plant loves this window! The new growth is getting taller as time progresses, this plant is very easy to take care of. I water this plant from wet to dry, once a week. I bought this plant back in January of 2015 and it has shown progress!

Last plant but most certainly not least is my lucky bamboo (dracaena sanderiana) plant!

 It's on the counter along with my orchids and my dracaena 'lemon surprise' plant. I bought this plant from the mall in October of 2014. It does grow pretty slowly but it still has made progress as well. It is in a vase with water and decorative rocks. I do change the water on a weekly basis because the water does tend to get dirty quickly. Lucky bamboo plants can also be grown in soil and they'll love it! I would like to try that for myself someday too.

Things Are Speeding Up

Happy March everyone! I noticed that I have not posted at all in February. There wasn't really much going on with my garden last month. Here in North Carolina we have had quite a few snow days which were very nice but also they had their challenges too. Since March has arrived, things are starting to look positive for my plants. I noticed today that my mother in laws tongue propagation that I've started in April of 2014 is showing new growth on the baby plant. I have also noticed that the original leaf cutting that I've planted is starting to turn yellow and will most likely die. This is normal for this to happen. So here's a photo of how it looks today: 

I am loving the progress that this propagation is making! Another plant that I would like to share progress of is my aloe vera plant:

 It is literally growing like crazy! I love this plant, I bought it from Lowes in May of 2014 and it has transformed totally! I did add some decorative rocks that makes it look really cool. I am thinking of purchasing another aloe vera plant in the upcoming months as spring approaches soon. The days are starting to get longer gradually. Sansevieria Sensation.

Happy Saturday my fellow plant enthusiasts! This month of January has passed on by very quickly and I cannot believe that February is just around the corner! It is still winter and a good way to spruce up your indoor areas in your home or office is to bring vibrant plants! I did acquire some plants at Lowes as you can see in my previous post and I did happen to get another. This plant is a Sansevieria Trifasciata Zeylanica or Mother in Laws Tongue plant. I normally would get the variegated variety with the yellow borders but I wanted to get another variety this time :) and I am very satisfied with what I brought home. A little while ago I did find this plant at my local grocery store, I wasn't even planning to buy a plant but when I saw the display, I could not resist! This plant was only $2.00 and it is very healthy! There are new stalks forming which will eventually grow into tall plants. Mother in law's tongues are excellent for improving indoor air quality in your home by removing unnatural compounds left behind from products and common household items. I have heard that these plants grow very slow, but from my experience, they grow relatively fast. These are great for studio apartments to add some decorative modern elements. New-ness is Upon Us!

Hello all, happy 2015!! I hope that you all have enjoyed the first half of January. I did want to present to you two new plants that I recently acquired at Lowes, of course from the clearance shelf. The first plant that caught my attention was a Calathea Rosea Picta plant which is very closely related to prayer plants (marantacae); and this plant also retain the ability to open the leaves during the day and to close them at night. This is a very interesting plant! I am very amused with the leaf's multicolor design elements and the deep purple on the undersides are gorgeous! This plant only cost $1.50 which is an amazing deal for an amazing plant!
The next plant is a Dracaena Deremensis 'Lemon Surprise.' In the past I have had the plain lemon lime variety but never this kind. I absolutely love how looking overhead of this plant, creates a swirling effect which is very unique and cool! This dracaena was only $1.50 as well.
Both of these plants do have potential to flourish. There is some brown and crispy foliage but they should be able to bypass them. I love doing plant rescues, which give a plant of any kind a second chance at life of being very healthy in a loving home! I hope that all of you will have a fantastic Wednesday!
